Prof. Dr. Fernando Peña López

Professor at University of a Coruña School of Law.

Title of his speech: "Compensating damages to human rights: constitutional limits for the Spanish legislature". As a professor, he has been regularly teaching: Tort Law, Contract Law, Land Law and Private Building Law, at the University of a Coruña School of Law. Currently he is also teaching in some LLM programs at the University of a Coruña and at several private academic institutions (IFFE, UEP). Moreover, he has been Guest Lecturer at the Fordham University School of Law -New York, USA- (subject:«Legal Spanish: Contract Law» and «VSR Seminar Series») at the Catholic University of Louvain School of Law -Belgium- (subjects: "European Consumer Protection Law" and "European Competition Law"), at the University of Cologne -Germany- ("Introduction to the Spanish legal System"), at the University of Milan ("Seminar on Private Comparative Law: A comparison between the Italian and the Spanish Systems)" at the University of Trieste (lecturing on "European Tort Law") and at the University of South Wales -UK- (on the topic: "Harmonisation of the European Law of Obligations"). His academic research has been mainly dedicated to the analysis of legal issues regarding the law of torts and the protection of consumer rights. Nowadays, he is a member of the Research Group on "Responsible Lending", financed by the Spanish Department of Education. The common effort developed by some of the members of this Research Group for seven years is the comprehensive volume "Reclamaciones de consumo" (Consumer Claims), published by Thomson-Aranzadi (3rd. edition, 2010), which is one of the most consulted legal works about consumer protection in his country.
